The Venom line is getting a power upgrade with the new Venom Recoil. This is the first asymmetric Venom ever released by MOTIV and it features the new Gear APG (Asymmetric Performance Gain) weight block.

Because the balance-hole rule has changed, MOTIV created the asymmetric Gear APG weight block to give ball drillers more layout versatility when no balance-hole is used.

The original Venom Shock provides incredible performance at a very affordable price and this new asymmetric Venom Recoil is no different. This ball offers massive value!

    Venom Recoil

The Venom Recoil is the first asymmetric Venom ever released by MOTIV and it has the new Gear APG weight block. This asymmetric weight block will give drillers more layout versatility with no balance-hole. The original Venom Shock is known for providing amazing performance at a very affordable cost, and the new Venom Recoil will be the same. I see myself using this ball when the Shock is a little too early and I need something that will go just a little longer with a strong backend motion.

    Amazing Power, carry!

I had to put down my Venom Shock Pearl and try the New Recoil. I still have not picked the VSP back up since adding the Recoil to my bag. Out of the box the coverstock was a little uncontrollable, added a touch of polish and wow.

Throwing 19 to 23 mph depending on oil pattern. I bowled state tournament on USBC Blue 3. Everyone said outside 7 was out of bounds, and bowlers around us all tried and rolled out or gutterballed. I tossed the Recoil out to the 2 board and revved it up, when it snapped back into the 1-2 pocket I had 4 different bowlers ask what ball did i throw. The Recoil was not released to the public yet but it helped presell a bunch at my local alley. I spent the first 2.5 games of doubles throwing 15 to 2, then once the patteren broke down I pulled the VSP out and threw 20 to 5 for games 2.5 to 4.5. The Recoil is my go to initial ball. Unless a pattern 1 to 1 or something that demands i pull put the Golden, Or Abyss.

    Review:
The New Motiv Venom Recoil is a great addition to the line. Motiv has got ahead of the new balance hole rules by putting an Asymmetric core into the Venom line. I think we will see more Asymmetric balls by all brands in the future and I am glad Motiv is one of the brands out front on this. I have always done well with the Venom Shock but I believe I like the Recoil more. These are strong words from a Motiv Shock fan. The Recoil is stronger than the Shock for me, and has a much stronger back end motion. I was able to belly the Recoil out more than the Shock and did not fear recovery or hit. I compared both balls with the same surface and the layouts where very close. The shock has a balance hole, The Recoil does not. The Recoil seems to drive through the pins harder for me also. I think the box factory finish does exactly what it was designed to do. It looked rougher than 4000 to me though. The Recoil does take surface changes well if needed. The Recoil is a great piece to pull out if the Shock is not quite getting there. I think the new core is a perfect match for this cover. The Recoil fits between my Shock and my Forge in hook. The Motiv Venom Recoil works very well for various styles on medium or medium heavy conditions. It is a killer on a slightly wet house shot.
The color of the Recoil is great. Very reminiscent of the Panic which was also a great ball by Motiv. It will definitely get noticed as well as the great price for an Asymmetric ball making it a very nice value.

    Summary:
The Venom Recoil is a stronger version of the Shock.
The Recoil is driller friendly regarding the new rules.
This is a great ball when the Shock is lying off.
The Recoil is a great looking ball at a value price.

    Venom Recoil

The Venom Recoil features the all new Gear APG core and is the first asymmetric ball in the Venom line! It comes wrapped in the Coercion MFS Reactive coverstock that is also found on the Villain and T10, two balls that are a must in my bag. I drilled the Recoil with the same layout as my OG Shock, pin under ring. I was looking for the Recoil to read the lanes and give me a smoother reaction off the spot.

My first practice session with this ball went very well. I threw the first 7 out the gate before leaving an 8 pin. The ball definitely reminds me of my T10, but allows me to get a little deeper. I compared it with my pin up T10 and I was about 4 & 2 left off my T10 line. The second session with the Recoil was during my film session where I compared it with the OG Shock and VSP. The lanes had a left over house shot from open play. Compared to the Recoil, I was about 2 & 2 right with my OG Shock, and about 4 & 2 right with my VSP. I definitely felt comfortable moving more left with the Recoil as it read the lanes well and was able to come back stronger on shots that went too far out.

As with most of the Venom line, the Recoil will make an excellent benchmark ball that will help tell you what the lanes are giving you. Once it starts to lose energy, you can easily switch to a VSP and stay in the same general area.

    Venom Recoil

With the latest Venom release, we have the Venom Recoil. This is the first asymmetric release in the Venom line. With that, we now have a little stronger asymmetric core to battle those medium to light oil volume lanes. This allows me to open up my angles just a touch over the original Venom Shock with the exact same layout. I do not think that this ball is stronger than a shock by more than a board or 2, but the extra umph off of the spot is enough to chop those flat 10's that I get when the Shock has to use too much angle through the back part of the lane. I will note that with a slight surface tweak down to 2000 has allowed this ball to be a staple in my medium volume arsenal of both sport and house shots.

    Note- layout is 70*5*30
