Finally, the Venom Shock Pearl (VSP) has arrived! Featuring our new Hexion cover and a dual density weight block, the VSP is the perfect complement to the original solid edition, which is one of the most popular MOTIV balls ever because it is so versatile on light to medium oil.

The Top Gear™ weight block gives the Venom Shock Pearl a low RG and low differential similar to the original solid ball, yet its dual density structure provides a more angular backend motion.

To provide easy length and a fast response to friction, a new Hexion MFP (Medium Friction Pearl) Reactive cover is utilized on the VSP.  At the factory, the Purple Pearl cover stock is tuned with a 5500 Grit LSP finish to boost the performance attributes of MOTIV’s Hexion technology.

Rev dominant bowlers will be pleased to find great length and angle from the Venom Shock Pearl.  Similarly, bowlers currently using the solid edition will now have an outstanding complementary ball for that third game when the oil pattern is broken down.

    VSP Review

    Review:

The Venom Shock Pearl is the latest release from MOTIV Bowling. It brings together the Top Gear core at the Hexion Cover makes a great compliment to the original Shock and is a great piece for medium conditions. With the Top Gear core and the Pearl Hexion Cover, the Venom Shock Pearl provides easy length when there is friction on the lanes and has tremendous angular backend through the pins. If you loved the original Venom Shock, and honestly who wouldn’t, then the Venom Shock Pearl is for you.

    Comments:

When it was first announce that MOTIV was coming out with the Venom Shock Pearl, I couldn’t wait to punch up and boy it did not disappoint. The VSP is such a great piece in my bag because it’s the first ball out of my bag for league. Where I bowl, there is a lot of friction down lane with lots of backend and I need something that will get me down lane without losing the pocket and the VSP gives that to me. With the original Shock and along with the Lethal Paranoia, I got a great league line up and I think MOTIV fans will love this piece just as much as I do. Medium to higher rev players will love the VSP because it’s great to get down lane and lots of backend that just destroys pins. Lower rev players will love the VSP because when the Shock becomes a little too much, switching to the VSP will keep them in their comfort zone.

Likes: Easy length; Lots of backend; Continuation like no other.
    Dislikes: None

I recommend the Venom Shock Pearl for all types of bowlers.

    Venom Shock Pearl

Motiv’s release of the Venom Shock Pearl give you a ball with versatility and lots of performance. This light to medium oil ball has the Top Gear dual density weight block which give you more angular backend motion and the Hexion medium friction pearl cover providing easy length and a fast backend response. I have found adding some surface to this cover helps it pick up a little faster in the fronts on fresh patterns while the cover helps get this ball down the lane later in the shift. You will want this ball in your bag!

    VSP Review

    Bowler Specs:
    Hand: Right
    Rev Rate: 400 - 425
    Ball Speed 16 - 17 mph
    PAP: 4 1/4 over 1 up

I drilled my VSP 50 x 5 x 40 with an x hole on my PAP. This is my favorite pin up layout and creates the motion that allows me to read the lanes properly front to back. So this was drilled primarily for tournament play later in the blocks to compliment and transition into after my original shock that was pin down.

This ball is a house shot killer and great ball to go to later in tournament play once the pattern breaks down. With a low rg and lower differential, like the original shock, the VSP will be a favorite for many players. The ball gets into a roll fairly early but still stores plenty of energy for down lane reaction. I would call this ball medium-high response to friction with the Hexion MFP cover at box finish. If you need to move more inside to compensate for the quick response to the friction you may need to adjust the coverstock with a little bit of surface, to get the ball to read earlier in the oil as you move inside.

So far for me, this ball has been most successful with 1000 or 2000 abralon surface preparation. It works best for me on medium length, flatter, broken down patterns, where I normally struggle a bit. So I am extremely happy where this piece falls into my arsenal.

The Venom Shock Pearl Is Absolutely Amazing !

Drilled with a 60x4x35 for a lower rev player like myself it gave me easy length with a great down lane flip off the end of pattern. Which in turn shocked me, not as clean and flippy as Tag Cannon but cleaner and more responsive down lane. Comparing the original Venom Shock and Cobra during testing on a THS I noticed that the misses to the outside was more forgiving than inside with Venom Shock Pearl. Which in turn is completed opposite with the Cobra, and Venom Shock Solid for me. Wrapped with successful core with Motiv new and improved Hexion Cover Stock technology the Venom line is continuing to help the best Motiv fans win the world to stay Motivated while they Shock the competition

    Strike Without Warning!

    Layout:
    65 x 5 x 35

The Venom line is back in a bold new way with the Venom Shock Pearl. The combination of the Top Gear core (2.47RG, .035Diff) from the Cobra with the brand new Hexion MFP coverstock (5500LSP) captures the essence of the original Shock while providing a different motion; this has created a strong 1-2 punch. The VSP has been designed to skid further down the lane while providing more recovery than its original namesake so that it can be used later in the day once the OG Shock starts to hook too early. I drilled mine the same way as my longest tenured Shock (and most successful!) and also hit it with a light 3000 pad to get it to the same finish to give a true comparison. While these two reacted with the pins the same (keeping them low and on the deck for better carry), their reactions are vastly different. This iteration of the Hexion cover continues to impress with its reaction time to friction while the core keeps the ball in control. The VSP goes several feet further down the lane and responds to the friction significantly quicker. This motion allows me to get further left on the lane and still get the corners out where the OG Shock would start to burn a little early. Taking the polish off of the box finish has allowed me to use this ball on the fresh without sacrificing control. With the polish back on I get a ball that can continue going left so that I may keep that reliable Venom reaction in my hand even longer. If the Venom Shock is a staple in your bag then the Venom Shock Pearl is a must-have enhancement to that arsenal.
