MOTIV® has produced some of the greatest solid reactive bowling balls in the world. They create aggressive traction in oil yet retain energy for explosive continuation down lane, and that’s not easy to do.  Those impressive characteristics have been refined and tuned for medium oil to deliver the solid Ripcord™ Flight.

Continuing with the dual-density Oblivion™ core to provide length and create angle, the Sky Blue Ripcord™ Flight features Turmoil™ Max Solid Reactive cover stock.  This modified version of the cover used on the Venom Shock handles slightly more oil volume and is tuned with a 3000 Grit LSS factory finish.

“For years, our pro tour staff has asked for a ball to compliment the Venom Shock when it can’t create enough angle or combat the volume on the lane.  The Ripcord Flight is exactly that ball. I can’t wait to get this in the hands of competitive and casual bowlers,” said MOTIV® PBA® Tour rep Brett Spangler.

For many bowlers, the Sky Blue Ripcord™ Flight will be an outstanding benchmark ball.  It perfectly balances the characteristics of a solid cover while also providing more shape down lane.  This piece is a must.

    This ball is versatile!!!

The Ripcord Flight is exactly as advertised. I put the same pin down layout that I love on my Venom Shock.(30 x 4 x 65) and this ball is a stronger version. Not only is it a compliment to my Shock, it matches up great as a ball up to the original Ripcord. It has a smooth continuous motion that I have become accustomed to from Motiv’s solid cover stocks.

    Ultimate Benchmark Ball

The Ripcord Flight has quickly become my go to benchmark ball. I was lucky enough to throw the Flight before the centers in my area shut down, and also was able to use it in tournament play. My initial reaction was the Flight is a stronger and smoother Venom Shock. It’s about 3 boards stronger than my Venom Shock and can handle more oil. On the house shot it was very forgiving and allowed me to play both the outside and just inside the track. When I want to play a steeper angle, I can easy switch to my original Ripcord or Supra. This has easily become my go to ball and can’t wait to get back out there and make some surface adjustments.

    Take Flight!

What happens when you take the technology from the Venom Shock and update it for today’s conditions? The sky-blue explosion known as the Ripcord Flight was born to provide a heavier-volume compliment to MOTIV’s oldest continuous ball in production so that you can have that classic, controllable reaction in your hand for longer in the day.
The most pronounced feature of this ball is the eye-popping, two-toned color that stands out on the lanes. Don’t let this visual fool you, though. The uprated Turmoil Max Solid coverstock (3000 LSS) has been engineered to handle medium-heavy volumes and gives you strong traction for a good mid-lane read. To compliment the strength of this cover, the Oblivion core (2.53RG, .047Diff) was placed inside of it for its great versatility: it provides both the higher RG push to get through the heads easier while providing the dual-density flare enhancement for better lane grip. This dynamic duo has created a motion similar to the Venom Shock, but in higher volumes.
I laid my Flight out exactly like my original Shock (which is still kicking after six strong years of performance!) expecting a smooth, controlled motion throughout the lane like its older brother; it delivers exactly that. With its overall strength, the Flight has had no issues handling the fresh house shots that I have tried throwing it on. In fact, on some nights when the pattern seems to be a bit thinner, this ball acts like it’s in the high performance category and I have to look for a level down from it, such as the Tank Blitz. The most consistent thing I see throughout throwing this ball is, well, its consistency. This Ripcord has been remarkable at being able to grip the mid-lane so that it can create a predictable motion on the back half of the lane. By having this sort of control, you have the ability to make moves confidently to stay on top of the transition. I have yet to have a shot uncontrollably jump off the dry or suddenly bounce and create a detrimental angle through the pins. To that point, this ball was not designed to give you skid/snap or to open up the lane dramatically. Predictability is a key asset when battling early in the day conditions, and the Ripcord Flight delivers in that category.

    Time to Take Off!

The Ripcord Flight is the newest addition to the Motiv Medium line. For me, I love the original Ripcord on medium flat patterns and pretty much any house conditions because once it sees friction, it goes. The Ripcord Flight has been a very great asset to my bag. As someone who loves to throw midline pieces as much as I can, the Ripcord Flight gives me a lot of great options for patterns. I have really found that when the lanes see some over/under and I can’t get a ball to shape, the Ripcord Flight allows me that smooth transition with a consistent read. My favorite part about the Ripcord Flight is that it allows me to increase my miss room on harder patterns because it has enough hook to get through the oil so it allows me to shape the lane with its versatility. The Ripcord Flight in my opinion is a must for house shots, especially if you are already carrying the original Ripcord in your bag. Get your hands on a Ripcord Flight and Take Off to the next level!
